King of Hearts
Angelina Wickman
All the room stops,
and stares as you enter.
A smile for each and every person,
Making them feel important.
I watch you as I have always done,
jealous of the beauties on your arm.
Wishing I had the courage to speak up,
when you ask me my name.
All I can do is stare,
and secretly wish and privately dream.
Of dancing and kissing,
of you whispering that you are mine.
I dream of knowing your touch,
the sweetness in your goodbye kiss.
The joy of waking up to your dazzling face,
of having your eyes burn with lust for me.
King of Hearts,
that’s what I’ve nicknamed you.
Not a single soul can see,
And not want to know you.
All of time stops,
when your gaze reaches mine.
Though I want to sound clever,
I fall short each and every time.
Illusion and Charm
Angelina Wickman
Illusion and charm are your weapons,
for their nothing but a front.
The real you is hidden far beneath,
and only comes out when the doors have closed.
All you care about is your image,
I gave you everything I had in me.
You got the best of me,
and left nothing but a shell of who I was.
Its taken so long to feel okay again,
its been six months but it feels like a century.
I let you in and let you have my soul,
oh how i am paying that mistakes price.
I see you across the room,
laughing with some pretty girl.
I thought it would still be painful,
but all I feel is pity for the girl with you.
A Girl I Once Knew.
Angelina Wickman
I once knew this girl,
so timid and terrified by the world.
She'd had her heart ripped out,
and fire had been set to her soul.
And I watched her as she grew,
unaware of her beauty and worth.
She locked up who she was,
becoming what she was told she needed to in order to survive.
Now its hard for her to trust,
difficult for her to let go.
Desiring nothing more than to simply be,
so lost as to how.
